英語(yǔ)寓言故事一
Lion was awakened from sleep by a Mouse running over his face. Rising up in anger, he caught him and was about to kill him, when the Mouse piteously xzhufu_xom entreated, saying： “If you would only spare my life, I would be sure to repay your kindness.” The Lion laughed and let him go.
It happened shortly after this that the Lion was caught by some hunters, who bound him by strong ropes to the ground. The Mouse, recognizing his roar,came up, and gnawed the rope with his teeth, and setting him free, exclaimed： “You ridiculed the idea of my ever being able to help you, not expecting to receive from me any repayment of your favour； but now you know that it is possible for even a Mouse to confer benefits on a Lion.”
獅和鼠
一只老鼠從一只獅子面前跑過(guò)去，將它從夢(mèng)中吵醒。
獅子生氣地跳起來(lái)，捉住老鼠，要弄死它。老鼠哀求說(shuō)：「只要你肯饒恕我這條小生命，我將來(lái)一定會(huì)報(bào)答你的大恩。」獅子便笑著放了它。
后來(lái)獅子被幾個(gè)獵人捉住，用粗繩捆綁倒在地上。老鼠聽(tīng)出是獅子的吼聲，走來(lái)用牙齒咬斷繩索，釋放了它，并大聲說(shuō)：「你當(dāng)時(shí)嘲笑我想幫你的'忙，而且也不指望我有什么機(jī)會(huì)報(bào)答。但是你現(xiàn)在知道了，就算是小老鼠，也能向獅子效勞的。

A CARTER was driving a wagon along a country lane, when the wheels sank down deep into a rut. The rustic driver, stupefied and aghast, stood looking at the wagon, and did nothing but utter loud cries to Hercules to come and help him. Hercules, it is said, appeared and thus addressed him: "Put your shoulders to the wheels, my man. Goad on your bullocks, and never more pray to me for help, until you have done your best to help yourself, or depend upon it you will henceforth pray in vain."
Self-help is the best help.
大力神和車夫
一名車夫趕著貨車沿著鄉(xiāng)間小路行進(jìn)。途中車輪陷入了很深的車轍中，再也無(wú)法前進(jìn)。 這時(shí)，愚蠢的車夫嚇得茫然失措，一籌莫展，癡呆呆地站在那里，凝視著貨車，不斷地高聲 喊叫，求大力神來(lái)助他一把。大力神來(lái)到后，對(duì)他說(shuō)：“朋友，用你的`肩膀扛起車輪，再抽 打拉車的馬。你自己不自力更生，盡力解決，僅靠祈求我，怎么行呢?”
這是說(shuō)自力更生，自助自立是克服困難的最好辦法。
