　　蟬為么會發(fā)音，對我來說一直是個謎。為了揭開這個秘密，我常常躲在樹下悄悄地觀察。我發(fā)現(xiàn)蟬鳴時，總是“挺胸”、“翹尾”。

　　這是為什么呢？一天，我捉到了一只蟬，進行了觀察研究。我摘掉了蟬的翅膀，把它放在地上，它在地上撲打著小翅膀，叫著；我又折斷了它針狀式的嘴，可它仍然叫著。蟬究竟靠什么發(fā)音呢？經過反復觀察，我發(fā)現(xiàn)這聲音好像是從胸部發(fā)出來的。于是，我把它捉起來看，發(fā)現(xiàn)它凹部的'兩側，各有一片魚鱗似的硬殼，像鉗甲一樣，里面有一對透明薄膜。蟬嗚時，簿膜地回動，我用手輕輕地一捍這個地方，蟬就叫了。我不停地捏，它就不停地叫。我想：這對簿膜就是它發(fā)音器吧！我把簿膜刺破，再怎么捏，它也不叫了。后來媽媽告訴我這是蟬的“響板”，是雄蟬特殊發(fā)音器。發(fā)音膜的肌肉收縮振動，蟬就會發(fā)出聲音。雌蟬沒有“響板”，所以是啞巴。

Later, my mother told me that this is the "soundboard" of cicadas, a male cicada special pronunciation device. The muscles of the vocal membrane contract and vibrate, and cicadas make sounds. Female cicadas are mute because they don't have a soundboard.
